ADUM120X is a dual-channel digital isolator based on iCoupler magnetic coupling isolation technology. It adopts high-speed CMOS technology and chip-level transformer technology. It has advantages that photoelectric isolation devices cannot match in terms of performance, power consumption, volume, etc. Based on ADI's patented iCoupler digital isolator, it uses patented planar magnetic field isolation technology. iCoupler technology is a patented isolation technology based on chip-sized transformers rather than the combination of LEDs and photodiodes used in optocouplers. iCoupler technology eliminates the photoelectric conversion process in the optocoupler and uses the iCoupler transformer patented technology to integrate the transformer driving and receiving circuits, thereby achieving performance advantages that photoelectric isolators cannot match. Because the iCouple transformer is manufactured directly on the chip using a wafer-level manufacturing process, iCoupler channels can integrate between channels more efficiently than optocouplers and can implement other semiconductor functions more easily. Since there is no photoelectric conversion link in the optocoupler that affects efficiency, the iCoupler digital isolator does not require an external circuit to drive the LED, and its power consumption is only 1/10 to 1/50 of that of the optocoupler.
