Mercury Tilt Switch - 5mm is a tilt-activated switch for position-based electrical control. It uses mercury, a glass cylinder, and electrodes to detect tilt relative to gravity or inertia. When the switch is tilted enough, the mercury moves to the electrical contacts and closes the circuit. When the mercury separates from the contacts, the circuit opens again. It is suitable for applications that require angle-based switching and on/off detection.
Because it uses mercury, high temperatures may cause fire or deformation.
