Description
Adjustable Laser Diode Driver board [0-600mA] [808nm-980nm] is an adjustable driver board, which is specialized for driving and supplying a laser diode with the spectrum of 808nm up to 980nm wavelength and 5V with 600mA power supplied. It is like a converter which gets 3 to 5 V dc and gives a constant current output from zero to 600mA DC. This driver is equipped with a current adjustable trimmer, which increases driver current by CW turning, and reduces it by CCW turning. This small driver board is sized for small cylindrical laser set battery supplied, so its positive output can touch and connect to the set body and negative output can be soldered with a spring to contact the negative pole of the batteries. Depends on the spectrum of the laser diode, its voltage driving (supplying) is different, so this driver can't be applied to a laser diode excluded this 808nm to 980nm wavelength range.
A laser diode, (LD), an injection laser diode (ILD), or diode laser is an especial semiconductor P-N junction, to emit coherent light with a narrow spectrum. Two big challenges of laser diodes projects are proper heat control (heat dissipation) and proper powering supply (diode driving). The laser diode can't be supplied with a simple voltage regulator. They need a precision current source for supplying, and a TTL /PWM support circuit to control output for some functions such as engraving, too.
High-power laser diodes are used in industrial works such as heat treating, cladding, seam welding and for pumping other lasers, such as diode-pumped solid-state lasers.
