Description
conditioning for heart rate monitoring.
An integrated signal conditioning module for ECG and other bioelectrical measurement applications. The device is designed to extract, amplify, and filter weak bioelectrical signals with noise generated by motion or remote electrode placement. This design allows an ultra low power analog-to-digital converter (ADC) or embedded microcontroller to easily acquire the output signal.
The AD8232 uses a two-pole high-pass filter to eliminate motion artifacts and electrode half-cell potential. The filter is tightly coupled to the instrumentation amplifier structure for single-stage high gain and high-pass filtering, saving space and cost.
The AD8232 uses a no-constrained op amp to create a three-pole low-pass filter that eliminates extra noise. Users can meet the needs of different types of applications by selecting the cutoff frequency of all filters.
To improve the common-mode rejection of system line frequency and other undesirable interference, the AD8232 includes an amplifier for driver-driven applications such as right-hand drive (RLD).
The AD8232 includes a fast recovery feature that reduces the long build-up of the high-pass filter. If the amplifier rail voltage is abrupt (such as a lead-out condition), the AD8232 will automatically adjust to a higher filter cut-off state. This feature allows the AD8232 to achieve fast recovery, so that a valid measurement can be taken as quickly as possible after the lead is connected to the electrode of the measuring object.
