The LM386N is a low-voltage audio amplifier IC available in a DIP-8 package. Designed for low-voltage consumer applications, it has an internal gain of 20, which can be increased up to 200 by adding a resistor and capacitor between pins 1 and 8. The inputs are ground-referenced, and the output is automatically biased to half the supply voltage. The quiescent power drain is only 24 milliwatts, making it suitable for use in portable and battery-operated devices.
